allergies & topical protectants

Dear Mid-Willamette Valley, Corvallis, Oregon;
Apologies for replying directly to list but could not make
out address of posted message from my digest form (V97 #99 7/8). Duncan,
I know it is not directly related to propagation, but it may help some
of us enjoy our horticultural hobby more.
I read with interest your usage of a topical protectant to
prevent contact plant-induced allergy. I am susceptible to poison ivy
rash, especially when I use the weed trimmer. Do you or anyone else on
the list have any comments about which of the several products on the
market work best?
Tec Lab's Oak-N-Ivy Brand ARMOR Lotion Protectant
Tec Lab's Oak-N-Ivy Brand TECNU Skin Cleanser
            Stockhausen's STOKOGARD Cream
            EnviroDerm's IVY BLOCK Lotion
            GLOVES IN A BOTTLE Lotion
The latter had an article written about it in the Hobby Greenhouse
Association's Summer '97 publication (Vol. 19 No. 3) on page 31. Seems
like it would be good to keep one from getting black discoloration in
those skin cracks on the opposing aspects of fingers and thumbs when
pulling weeds and maintaining machinery. Dirk at taint@omegabbs.com
