I believe that both will germinate without chilling, but I know they'll
come up when sown outdoors in mid or late winter. If you want to get
plants up before frost, it's worth trying now. But you'll want
cold-frame space for the babies.
Dierama usually makes good growth from winter/spring sowing, some
flowering in two years. I'd keep some of the seed for spring sowing if
you're starting some now.
