My sister in Madison, Wi, zone 4b or 5a, has started this by simply
patting the seeds onto an area where she had opened a bale of peat for
acid loving plants. Very little soil was mixed in. Good germination
and it is also self sowing for her around the mother plant in another
area which has rotted oakleaves mixed in. Neither area dries out but
she does nothing else.
