I confess to being a lurker intimidated by all the technical jargon, but
I'll give a shot to a question I've got. I've tried rooting cuttings of
various species of Abutilon without much luck. I used rootone, stuck
them in vermiculite in small pots with plastic bags over to hold in some
humidity. The cuttings were softwood, about 4" long, with buds near the
base that went into vermiculite. They all eventually got fungus or
rot. So, I'm interested in trying it again until I get it right. Any
suggestions? (I'm in sunset zone 15, USDA zone 9)
Also, I keep hearing about oasis cubes? What are they? Where can they
be purchased?
I've saved some seed from an Aquilegia that I was given. Don't know the
species. Are they easy to start from seed? Should I be doing that now,
or wait until fall and sow them directly in soil, or wait until next
spring?
