I don't even stick many cuttings in water. If a piece of a plant breaks off, I
just stick it in good quality moist potting soil (often, just in the ground
next to the parent plant) As long as I don'tr let the soil completely dry off,
I have successfully rooted impatiens, coleus, Italian White & Mixed color
sunflowers, roses, zinnias, begonias, forsythia, marigolds, ageratum, sedum,
portulaca, lilies, among others. this is the "lazy man's method" & while it
works, I probably get faster results with hormones.
