I also use the delete key when Only the latin name is given. Not that I
always will want to do this, but it is a question of both time and
resources. Like Barb, this is one of the reasons I've gotten involved with
lists.
While it is a good idea to include the latin along with the "common" names
of plants, the latin often is not included on the seed packets, nor is it
always found on the little plant markers at our local plant suppliers (All
of the garden shops in my area truck plants in for sale. There are few real
growers around.)
I used to live in a large metropolitan area with "real" growers and lots of
gardeners in the area. Where would I go to look up some of these names now?
I can't run to the public library every day. Does this list have a FAQ where
newbies can go to get some basic information without boring the "old-timers"
with the same old questions? Or is there a good reference site on the
internet?
I enjoy the list, learn a little at a time and contribute where I can. I
really appreciate those who don't mind sharing their professional and/or
practical experience and knowledge with those of us who are just starting
out.
Thanks,
Pat
