Probably dry atmosphere. Average house humidity with air conditioning in
summer and central heating in winter is desert-like for plants and spider
mites love this. Try sitting your pots on trays of gravel and keeping the
trays topped up with water just to the underside of the top of the gravel
(don't want the actual pot sitting in water). I've had good success with
this in combating scale on house plants (my nemesis) as it creates a humid
atmosphere right around the pot.
