Re: Pools & Plants: Best of both worlds!!!

G'day, Dawn --

I have an above-ground pool with decking on all 4 sides facing SW.
I have a wide variety of plants in pots on the deck & around it.
On the side that faces the house, I have clematis, perennial sweet peas,
4-o'clocks, Oleander (in pots), etc.

I water them with pool water.
If chlorine is kept at proper levels, it should NOT harm any of your plants
around the pool. In fact, for several years, I even irrigated my tomatoes
with pool water!!!!

I use a solar blanket until pool temps reach around 85 degrees.
Adding algicide once a week (I think) is recommended when you use a solar
blanket. I only use algicide IF I have a problem which rarely happens.
Not necessary if your chlorine levels are maintained properly.
I use an automatic chlorinator & 3" tablets.
I only test 2 or 3 times a week.
The only time you need to be carelull watering your plants with pool water is
in the spring when you wake up your pool with lots of chemicals or if you get
a green pool in the middle of summer & have to add algicide.

Enjoy your pool & your plants all at the same time!!
Great but hard to give both enuf time!!
