I'm coming in on the tail end of this, but when I start a plant in
water and it finally sends out roots I add a little soil at a time and
no more water until the roots seek the soil to anchor to and all the
water is absorbed into the soil in a very wet medium.
Then I wean the plant to the soil by letting it get drier and drier
until it is of a consistancy to plant into the potting medium
permanently.
