Living in South Central Texas, I have lots of experience with high heat and
humidity along with little or no rainfall, like this year. Some plants that
do well for me this time of year are: echinacea spp, coreopsis, salvia spp,
hardy and tropical hibiscus, cosmos, zinnia, and many herbs: basil, all
flavors, marjoram, lemon grass, fennel, mints, culinary sage, tagetes
lemonii (Mexican Mint Marigold, Mexican Tarragon), rosemary. This is an
extremely dry year and the plants I mentioned are still doing well. I do
irrigate, though, but not a lot. I hope this helps.
