I dug up a clump of white Phlox paniculata because it was growing too big in
a spot where I didn't want it. The main part was replanted, propped up and
is still happily blooming. Two pieces were separated off, blossom stalks
were cut and they were replanted in a temporary bed. That was about three
weeks ago. I'm sure the plant would prefer I had done this when it was
dormant but everything looks fine and I expect all the pieces to still be
alive and happy next spring.
