Don- I believe the magenta was probably herbaceous - very nice growth habit
and the color was incredible. Nice surprise in the dry mountainous area we
spent our 4th of July. You are right about the white one I think - it is not
like the "rose of sharon" that I currently have in the garden-----it is much
larger and sturdier. My neighbor has offered me as many cuttings as I want -
they do not garden (at all), not even mowing and she feels it would be a way
for the tree to be pruned. I don't think I want that many cuttings. :o)
