Is this the right list? I think I haven't seen traffic here recently.
I used a regular heating pad from the pharmacy for years (instant voiding
of the warranty, I don't recommend you duplicate my suicidal tendencies)
until it burned out (literally, big burn mark in the plastic covering where
it shorted out).
I am aware of multiple threads on this forum where various persons attested
to the use of water bed heating pads to heat seeds trays, etc.
I now find myself in possession of such a mat, and I see that the
directions clearly state not to plug it in until the matress is full of
water. I'm not overly concerned with following directions, but torching my
home is somewhat less than desirable to myself.
Could the fine peoples here who have embarked upon this course of action
please enlighten me as to wether there might be multiple varieties of water
bed heaters (I could locate only one more or less generic sort), wether
they used any sort of water insulator around it, wether it was buried in
the soil, wether the seed trays were simply set on the heating portion, etc?
It occurs to me that people may have placed it under the soil, and then
placed the nifty little metal probe into the soil. However I do not recall
many of the detail, and I would greatly appreciate any personal antedotes,
stories, or thoughts that might pass through your minds as you read my words.
That is, assuming that you've troubled yourself to read this far!
Thank you for flying!
