I'm going through a winter squash obsession (my new favorite food) and I'd
like to know what are people's absolute favorites. I am looking for the
absolute sweetest winter squash varieties.
My current fave is Kabacha, popular in the Korean markets here in Los
Angeles, so I am trying it from saved seeds and it seems to be doing well.
Has anyone tried "Tahitian" as seen in Seeds of Change? If so, would you
*highly* recommend it or not?
What about "Ambercup Hybrid" from T&M? The catalog says it resembles
Kabacha. What are the differences?
Pinetree says "Honey Delight" is "one of the best" of the "Japanese type."
Anyone know more about this?
I have *lots* of Kabacha seed that I'd like to trade for other exceptional
varieties, especially the three mentioned above. Anyone have a couple of
seeds they can spare? I am growing Kabacha vertically and already have an
almost-mature fruit on the vine.
I am overwhelmed by the choice of melons there are in the catalogs -- the
descriptions make them all sound equally superior -- and would like to know
some exceptional unusual types to grow (although I'll need another year to
have saved melon seed to offer in trade.) What super varieties should I
investigate from what catalogs? I have a long growing season.
