Not exactly an answer to your question, but I haven't seen any other
responses to this question, so I'll put my 2 cents in here. I've stopped
thinking in terms of annuals only as being appropriate for window boxes. My
most successful box included a smallish golden rod. I grow far too many
plants, perennial and annuals, and the urge to plant this excess inventory
has helped me create some of the most spectacular boxes. While, in my case,
the perennials have ended up in boxes in desperation, perennials may work
for you too.
