Hi Everyone:
I recently purchased two Brugmansia in two gallon containers. The
nursery had lost the tags stating the colors. Kind of line a mystery
prize buy! Well, one bloomed Yellow and the other just opened a
beautiful pink - like cotton candy pink. The outside of the trumpet is
cream and inte inside and along the ruffel is pink.
I have put each of these in 10 gal. teracotta pots and have noticed
shoots like suckers coming up next to the main trunk and even further
out in the soil away from the trunk. Can I cut these off down under the
soil and start them in some pete and sand with rooting hormone to
increase these plants?
Would appreciate any advise.
Merlene
P.S. BTW the Echium I planted last fall all made it through the winter
with the exception of the Tower of Jewels which is more susceptible to
frost as it kicked the bucket. All the others (Pride of Madera) doing
fine but only one sent up a tall bloom. I have let the stay on the
plant as it started to dry and then put a nylon stocking over it to
catch the seeds. I have some available for the asking.
