Kalmias can be grown from seed, cultivars must be propaged vegetatively,
by cutings, but these do not root easily. Soft or semi-ripe cuttings are
usually taken in summer and propagated with bottom heat on a mist bench.
However, a heated propagator with plastic cover could also be used,
though results will be less successful. Shading to reduce scorch is
essential together with adequate humidity and temp of 70-80 F
Prepare cuttings early in the morning when the ate turgid, wound the
base and dip into a rooting powder containg fungicide before inserting
the cutting into pots or trays that contain a mixture of tow parts moss
peat to one part perlite by volume.
