Ginny,
I am doing a lot of moving and repotting. I have a few flats of
seedlings that needed potted up weeks ago waiting for my attention. Got
behind when I went on vacation and can't seem to catch up. I also have a
fair number of plants big enough to go in the garden and every night I
plant 5 or 6 (I am creaky and slow). I also spend a fair amount of time
pruning and weeding my rose, sedums, and Verbena beds. I also spend an
inordinate amount of time admiring the things I've never bloomed before
such as the Angel's Choir Poppies, Lilliput Zinnias, Sunspot Sunflowers,
Tigridia Lily, Sparaxis, Thunbergia, Lobelia Cascade purple...there's
more, too. I finally found a place where a nasturtium can thrive, down
in a window-well. I may not be able to share the blooms, but after 3
years I'll be happy just to see some Naturtium blooms.
Mostly I am rearranging plants for height, sun, and drainage
refinements. I also have a picket fence, and garden walk to finish
little by little, after I hack the bamboo roots out of the way.
And I had to move my Cutleaf Japanese Maple when the new AC units blew
heat and scorched a branch.
I am considering planting more sunflowers before its too late.
We haven't had any significant rain for 2 moths so I spend a lot of time
watering every day.
I too have some flats of ungerminated seeds, some in the basement, some
in the refrigerator, some outside. Once in a while one wakes up, too!
The beetles are fierce this year, they eat everything, and a leaf edge
browning blight or virus has come out of nowhere and affects more than
half of my plants, so I prune and pinch a lot.
What's everybody else doing, It is awfully quiet on the seed propagation
discussions, yet I have gobs of ungerminated things I'm tempted to ask
for advice on.
Later.

hot, humid days with frequent tiny storms that cool us off but leave
little rain. The weather seems to favor the bugs this year, theyve never
been worse.
