PROPAGATION BY CUTTINGS: EUPHORBIA

REPLY to:
Subject: Euphorbia 'Flame Leaf'

Has anyone had experience with propagating this exciting litle tender plant?
One of my plants has just finished flowering and has lovely little green
seed pods on it, just a little larger than a pin head. Should I try to
capture them or try cuttings? ...., Joanne in PA

Euphorbia are propagatd from cuttings taken from the current seasons growth.
Take cuttings 5-7 inch long. Remove bottom leaves exposing about 1 inch of
stem. By dry dip method: use rooting homone such as Rhizopon AA #2. See

http://www.rooting-hormones.com/drydip.htm .

By solution method use the total immerse method using water soluble rooting
hormones such as Rhizopon AA Water Soluble Tablets at 2-3 tablets per liter
of water. See

http://www.rooting-hormones.com/wst.htm

Plant the cuttings in well drained sterile media. Water throughly. Cover
with plastic. Place in light but not full sun. See:

http://www.rooting-hormones.com/cutcare.htm
