I want to take some cuttings from my Oak Leaf Hydrangea. Can anyone advise
me of the best time to do it, summer, spring, etc? Also, do I take them from
the blooming limbs or from the new growth? Thanks. Jean Carpenter

Hydrangia are quite easy to propagate from cuttings. We have taken many in
the early summer ... like now in the NY area. Take cuttings only from the
current seasons growth with about 3-4 leaf. Place the cuttings in a sealed
poly bag into the refrigerator for a day ... callous will form to seal the
wound.
We prefer solution total immerse using 3-5 tablets per liter of Rhizopon AA
Water Soluble Tablets. Plant the cutting, water, then cover completely with
plastic. Place the planting in light but not sun. Rooting should occur in
about 10-14 days.
