RE: germinating Chorizema


Hot water treatment normally cracks a water impervious outer shell.  The
same effect can usually be had from nicking the seed coat (scarification)
which is what they describe with the sand paper.  I think I read somewhere,
Deno?, that some African and/or Austrailian plants triggered to germination
by fire MAY benefit from potassium nitrate, but I don't think there is any
hard research to back this up.
