Hi Barbara....I would suggest that your medium is to wet.  Sphagnum holds a bit more moisture than I like on seedlings.  Even though you are using "a sprinkling" it could still be enough to hold to much moisture near those fragile stems.  Let us know what happens.  Take care, Sin
