INFO:
Hardy Shrubs
Russian Olive
Ger Temp: 50-65F (10-18C)
Ger Time 4-6 Months
Freshly harvested seed, removed from the surrounding pulp germinates
reasonably quickly. Stored seed, however, should be mixed with 3 times
its volume of damp peat in a sealed polythene bag and stored at 60F for
4 weeks before being placed in the refrigerator at 37-41F(3-5C) for 3-4
months. After this period sthe seed and peat should be spread on top of
a pot, or seed tray and after sealing in a polythene bag placed in the
greenhouse at a temperature of 50-65F(10-18C). Transplant the seedlings
into 3in(7.5cm) pots once large enough to handle, move to a cold frame
and plant out deciduous species in autumn, evergreen types in mid spring
or early autumn. They prefer ordinary well drained soil in sheltered
borders, being planted against south or west walls.
