A method I have used for bottom watering is rock in the bottom of a tall
pot. Fill the rock to a level above the water line. A drinking cup will
work well if you punch holes in the bottom and sides. Even punching many
holes to allow air in as well. This constant supply of water from the
bottom may require a more porous mix, maybe add perlite to a peat-lite mix.
To get rid of the excess water: Cut holes in the bottom of a flat then trim
the edge so that when its turned upside down if will set in the flat that
holds the water. Carry the flat to a drain, lift the upside down flat
holding the pots, drinking cups, etc allowing the pots to drain and empty
the tray.
