Re: Turface

Turface is hard baked clay, just like kitty litter, which would do as well if
one were sure it had been baked enough. Not enough baking and the kitty litter
could turn into a big clay lump.
Turface is processed and distributed by
Allied Industrial Materials Corp.
750 Lake Cook Rd.
Buffalo Grove, Suite 440, IL
Phone (800) 654-8793. You might want to call them if you cannot find it in
your area.
Turface is used primarily as a substance to absorb water on sports fields and
golf courses, or in any situation where standing water becomes a problem
For gardeners its main virtue is that it absorbs quantities of water, holds
the water and makes it available to plants' roots.
