Hi Marcia
I am interested in your post below. It has long been the belief of
the delphinium Society that delph germinate best at low temperatures
but please tell me. Why do many people go to all the trouble with the
paper towels and aluminium foil etc. i have found that unless folk
are really very careful with these methods they tend to be very risky
and rather a waste of time. Is there something here about being able
to visit the fridge often and see them germinating and then handling
and nurturing them into life? Of course everyone must know that New
Zealand is blessed with very mild winters (if you would call them
that), plants grow just about all year round here and germination is
one of those things that "just happens"
Do you have any references for a darkness requirement for delph?
I have never found this to be necessary.
Happy germinating
