Yucca recurvifolia

I just obtained some root (rhizome) sections of Yucca recurvifolia. They
were broken in the digging process, and I was wondering if any treatment of
the broken ends is necessary prior to planting to eliminate the possibility
of rot. If so, with what? Is it one of those plants that will take to rough
root division well (as hosta does with crown division) with no necessary
treatments?

In addition, I've noticed that it seems to thrive best in full sun. Will it
also thrive in partial shade, or is it best to have full sun?

Finally, I did a little bit of research on the plant, and found that it is
pollinated by Pronuba moths (it has nocturnal flowers). Can it survive
without pollination by this specific species? Will other insects pollinate
this plant? And what is the significance of pollination of this plant? Does
it just mean that it won't propagate without pollination, or will it die
without?

Thanks, Jim Klett
