I am prepared for the cannas left in the ground (z 5) not to survive,
however, with a cover of 15" of horse manure I think they stand a
chance. I am hoping for the freezing temperatures not to go through
the mulch. The manure should produce some heat breaking down, but
maybe the nitrogen will be too overwhelming and do the cannas in? I
will keep you posted.
