Haven't done them myself, but Tom Clothier has Amber Hearn's
excellent article on propagation via root cuttings up on his
site...here's the URL:

Rather doubt Aucuba will work from root cuttings, but they are dead
easy to root from stem cuttings. Seems to me I took semi-mature
material somewhere around mid-summer when I did some several years
ago. Rooted readily. Very likely I used Rootone on them, FWIW and
whether it made a difference or not, I cannot tell.
