Amber,
My experience is that Crocus seed germinates well from dry storage, but
like most temperate-zone bulbs, should be planted in early autumn for
best germination in the spring. In any case, dry storage through summer
doesn't hurt, and may improve, germination.
I'd guess three years to bloom for well-fed Crocus..
As hybrids, you'd expect variation from the parent plants.
