Re: Pesky roots


In my humble opinion....you can either go ahead and plant it, and take your
chances, or do what I did, and till up the entire thing, cover it and let it
sit covered for a while...weeks....and then till again, and cover, and till
and cover..till nothing sprouts...This could take up the whole summer to get
them all, cause the mints usually spread my root runners.....  It is a lengthy
process, but it does work.  Or you could dump a bunch of weed killer in it and
hope for the best.  I chose the till and cover trick, and planted a green
manure in the fall....I did get rid of it.  If you want mint, plant it in a
pail or somewhere that it has free rein, or can't escape from.  But remember,
mint has seeds, and they can land anywhere.....
