banksia's from seed

I am trying to propogate banksia's from seed.
Have not had any problems with getting them to grow,
but they all get to about 2-3 inches high and die. I
am looking for info on what I am doing wrong. I have
tried more water and then less water and have gone
back to just keeping them damp. Not having any success
long term. It is only an interest thing, just seeing
how I go from seeds collected in our area. I have had
success in getting pincushion hakea's, pink bottle
brush and pink gums seeds to grow, just failing in my
banksia's. Would appreciate any suggestions from
anyone who may be experienced in this area.
