Seed germinates readily on a thin layer of sifted spagnum moss on top of
potting mix that has peat (ie. Sunshine mix).
Why not take cuttings? There are some very nice cultivars Valley Valentine
and Mountain Fire that have to be propagated that way. With botton heat you
get almost a 100% rooting using rooting hormone.
Seed is just a little slow to reach a reasonable size.
Pieris floribunda which is harder from cuttings is pretty easy from seed also.
