I propagated roses commercially for the first time this year. I did
about 50 000 leaf bud cuttings primarily for Parkland and Explorer series
roses. I used a mist system that maintained RH at about 86% and temp at
30-32 degrees C at midday. Success was moderate to excellent for most
varieties with the exception of Hansa and Therese Bugnet. They turned
brown after about 48-72 hours. Not slimy, dark brown but a dry, crispy
brown.
Why did they do this so fast? Any ideas?
BTW, I was using Sunshine Mix #1 with some extra Perlite and our
irrigation water has slightly elevated levels of calcium.
Thanks in advance.
