sterile conditions when treating cuttings

Reply to the several posting on use of bleach etc.

One writer said that rooting hormones might be contaminated. You are quite
correct if when you use the rooting hormone the cutting is stuck into the
main storage 'stock' container.

Always take off enough rooting powder for one time use.

Do not return the used portion into the stock container. You drag-in
biological contaminants. These biological products such as soil, plant
chips may regenerate fungus and other problems.

We recommend using fungicides and other chemical products based upon needs
of the plant and the growing conditions. Testing, observation and timely
corrective action are essential to have positive rooting results.
