The message <361EC94E.702@mich.com>
from "Merrill E. Speeter" <kalphal@mich.com> contains these words:

Do you know what variety of Autumn-flowering Anemone you have? What
colour is the flower? Many of them are hybrids, with non-fertile
pollen or only a small percentage of fertile pollen. If it is a
species it could develop viable seed but the green buttons don't
sound very promising. A gold central boss would, I think, be more
likely to lead on to seed development. In any case, the central part
needs to be pulled apart. It should fall quite easily into fluffy,
woolly bits and the seeds are the bits which look like short hairs
(about 3 mm long?) inside the bits of fluff. If you haven't got fluff
I don't think you've got seeds!
