Joel, FAST PLANTS is actually the product used in order to speed up the
germination process, (using plant hormones)it's not a type of plant.
I'm familiar with the Wisconsin Fast Plants. If you have set up, you
can use any seeds. Typically what are used in the classroom are seeds
from the brassica's (broccoli, etc,) Here is the website for Wisconsin
Fast Plants: http://fastplants.cals.wisc.edu/ this should answer any
questions you have. They've got info on materials, educational info for
K-college, and lots of it is right on line. Good luck and have fun!
The kids will love it. Good to get them interested when they're young!
A transplanted native NYer and plant lover:)
We are involved in a plant growing program for early childhood students
at
the Little Red School House in NewYorkCity.
We are seeking a donation of a few dozen seeds of the plant called
Michigan Fast Plants or a variation.
These plants: germinate..develop plant leaves...flowers...seed in
several
weeks. Therefore, they are very suited to short term student projects.
We
have the growing setups but the the seeds from Carolina Biological are a
bit
pricey.
We would appreciate if you have some seeds of this plant or another
which
would be useful for these young students.
Please mail to our address below
sincerely
