I was first taken by this plant when I saw it in bloom at the Boyce
Thompson Arboretum just east of Phoenix. Those wonderful "grape soda"
smelling blooms! I collected seed and now have a 24" seedling which I hope
I can keep potted here in Wisconsin. I'm going to try to keep it pinched
to keep it small and bushy.
To germinate the seed, I scored the seed and soaked it for about 24 hours.
The water will turn bright orange (like the seed). Then just pot and be
careful not to overwater. The seed and leaves are said to be poisonous.
Good Luck.
PS Keep us informed as to your luck with the Stevia. I ordered a plant
this spring, but I guess they are notoriously bad shippers, and the plant
died.
