Re: Legality of growing opium poppies. (Was: Re: Poppies (p.somniferum?))

In Tasmania the real opium poppies are grown commercially and run wild all
along the roadside
Yet when I imported some Fothergills peony flowered poppies once I had a
vist from the drug squad (police)
(A facinating story but too long to type. I need a bottle of red first).

I had the good? fortune of seeing a Suttons trial garden of peony poppies
in England (In Oxford? Cambrige? I always get those two towns mixed up they
look the same). It was a sight I will never forget every colour of the
rainbow including beautiful burgundies and all sorts of rich jewl colours.
Sigh. . . . I guess I'll just have to be content with my boring wild opium
poppies.

Michael Bailes.
