If you know that the seeds are viable, another variable to play around
with would be light/no light. You also might allow the fruit to ferment
before extracting the seeds.
If all else fails, you might use my mother's technique of speaking
harshly to the seeds and feigning indifference to their fate. She
insists this works with certain plants. I make no promises, but a
recalcitrant rubber plant put out four leaves within two days of her
arrival for a visit.
