I just put a packet of them in cactus soil and waited. It takes quite a
while for some to germinate. Just keep them moist until they germinate
and then you can cut back on the watering as you would regular cactus.
I must say, though, they sure grow slowly compared to other types of
plants. I got about a one inch plant after a year. Now I son't think
prickly pears are that slow. It is a challenge, though.
