I started my nursery business before there was seed sold for propagation of
begonias. I kept stock plants and took cuttings which I rooted and then
shipped either the rooted cuttings or 2 1/4 pots all down the Eastern
seaboard. I had a great thing going as few places grew fibrous begonias. Then
came seed and new leaf color and flower tints. Here in New England this type
of begonia adapts well to growing in full sun in the summer. The foliage
becomes a pretty bronze color when they are first planted out, which it
holds. They take little care in the garden other than cleaning spent blooms.
Here the tuberous type wold appreciate being kept out of the mid day sun.
