groundcovers question

Hi, all, wonder if someone might have some ideas for me....this is not exactly
a shade garden question however....but I know that some of the people here are
very knowledgable about all kinds of gardening.....Anyway, here is the
situation....there is a strip of land in front of my new house which faces the
street, a rather busy street, and gets a great deal of sun. There are some
wonderful shrubs against the house, but then there is still a strip of ground
between the shrubs and the sidewalk where I would like to put a groundcover. I
was thinking of something like vinca, since it stays green all winter, but I am
not sure if it can handle that much sun. Any ideas? If vinca would not work,
is there anything else that anyone could suggest that would work in this kind
of situation? I would love to find something that would look attractive all
winter, if at all possible. Thanks!
