Well, I can tell you if I only grew native plants all I would have are a
couple sage brush, creosote bushes, some desert grass and what we call desert
broom. Now they are all very nice right now, with gray greens, deep greens
and yellow but when summer hits full force, all is not so nice. So I search
out x-oscape plants, it is hard because I love the tropical but they require
to much water. Someone once told me you can grow anything here if you give
it enough water, boy isn't that the truth.
Natives are great out on the open desert, but I want more. To me gardening
is creating a get away, a place to retreat from the world and relax. That
requires softer plants, the desert is harsh. I do have my desert garden, but
with imported plants.
