I hope someone can provide the botanical name.

Hi Louise,

I grow bulblet bladder fern, though I've been calling it berry bladder fern. I got it from a friend that curses it because it spreads around so much in her sandy soil under pines. The botanical name is Cystopteris bulbifera. It's not at all aggressive where I have it in dry shade under a crab apple. I think it's a pretty and delicate looking fern. John Mickel in his Ferns for American Gardens says it's an easy fern to grow, and while it's commonly found growing on or among wet limestone, it doesn't need those conditions to flourish.
