Re: Primula advice wanted

Hello Jim,
I do not have experience with the Primula species seeds you just germinated
from the china expedition, so no comment there. However, I have grown P. veris,
quite a few variations on a theme of vulgaris, sieboldii. I am beginning to play
with a few other species as well, but no long-term experience.
    P. vulgaris and veris are easy in this area and long-lived. Some have been in
my garden for over 10 years. It helps to lift and divide the clumps ever 4 years
or so, replant. Sieboldii is the easiest of the bunch as it goes dormant during
our hot and dry of August and September and return the following spring. And,
there is an endless variety of colors, bloom forms. You may also want to try P.
kisoana as I am having pretty good luck with that one for the past 4 years now.
