Put the whole question to rest by asking my mom. She said, "oh yes, I know
what a sarvis tree is, we made pies with the berries when I was a small
child, very delicious."
Some of you folks can put this into context with the quince discussion.
I planted my service berry for the birds. It has a nasty habit of sending up
runners and grows slow. If I can beat the birds to the fruit this year I may
taste it to see what the possibilities are.
