Are there more than one variety of these? If so, which do you grow and what
would you recommend? I think of hemlocks as huge trees that wouldn't fit
into
my landscape. I'd love to hear otherwise..

Hi Cindy:
I'll have to go to my journals to find the name. But it is an outstanding
plant for open shade. It can be pruned in a globular shape for the more formal
garden, or you can just let it grow. I am copying this post and your question
to Jim Wilkins who has a marvelous collection of dwarf conifers and am asking
him if he would advise us on the dwarf variegated hemlocks. The one I have is
sensational! Jim, could would you tell us about dwarf conifers suitabale for
the shade garden? TX!
