Carolyn, that is a great suggestion - I planted ONE Asarum two years ago -
just one leaf, then two leaves the next season, but this year it is all
over, covering a space about a yard long.  It is not disturbing any of my
other plants, but grows around them.

Another idea would be Polygonatum - I like the variegated one - it looks
very nice with azaleas (those larger than 12" in height!), and the
arch-shape would probably be an attractive accent to a hillside.  It is
supposed to be a shade plant, but part of mine is planted in full sun with
the rest in shade, and there is no visible difference between them.
