On ivy: My experience is that Round-Up doesn't work. My next-door neighbor
tried another kind of herbicide and it barely made a dent either. But if you
keep pulling ivy out (it's easiest after a big rain), eventually you will
get an ivy-free area. And just FYI: I remember that a year or two ago the
New York State Attorney General won a judgment against Round-Up. Apparently
the manufacturer was claiming it degraded much faster than it really does.
